If you don't have a domain name or server space, free domain name registration is included with most web hosting companies.
Choosing Your Name
- Choose a name that describes what you're selling, rather than who you are. If you don't have brand name recognition yet, customhomes.com would be a better choice than northviewbuilders.com
- Keep the name memorable, short, related to your business and hard to misspell over the phone.
- Don't use hyphens (north-view-builders.com). People expect to spell domain names without hyphens and when used in e-mail the URL may break at the hyphen line causing a link that won't work.
- If the name you want is taken, choose a different name (not just a different extension.) For example: northviewbuilders.com is taken but northviewbuilders.net is available. Since users expect to type in .com extensions, they may accidentally type in your competitor's address.
