Maintenance Glossary of Terms
- Support
- Stage 38 will answer your questions and provide assistance by phone
or e-mail.
- Monitor Domain
- A periodic check for unauthorized changes and expiration date. Stage 38 will
provide assistance when your domain name needs to be renewed.
- Dated Content
- Some of your content may no longer be valid after a certain date. Minor
changes to your dated material are included and articles, news or events
will be moved to your "archives" page when they expire.
- Maintenance Report
- You'll receive a report of all updates, repairs and changes that were
made to your site that month.
- Test/Repair Forms
- If forms are used on your site, they will be tested for proper operation
including delivery to the correct e-mail address and any problems will
be repaired. Note: this does not include extensive changes such as changing
the kind of information collected.
- Browser Check
- Your site will be checked in various browsers and any errors or problems
will be corrected.
- Monitor Error Logs
- Depending on your web host, errors are recorded in a log on your web
server including dead links, broken images and missing files. These logs
will be monitored and problems will be corrected.
- Monitor Host
- Your host will be monitored to make sure it's up and accessible. Problems
will be reported to your provider.
- Statistical Data
- Depending on your web host, a variety of statistical data is gathered
about your site such as keywords used to find your site, amount of users
and time spent on your site and which search engines were used to find
it. Choose which data you would like, and it will be sent to you.
- Search Engine Testing
- This includes a test of your keyword phrases on popular search engines
to find your position, a comparison of your keyword phrases and the most
used, and a list of which websites are linking to you (site popularity).
- Search Engine Optimization
- Submission to major search engines and updates to meta tags for optimum
placement. Some of the other steps and guidelines involved are listed
at SEO.
- "Link Rot" Prevention
- Your site will be checked for broken links. Internal (links to pages
on your site) and external (links to other Web sites) will be repaired
if broken.
- Content Edit/Update
- Stage 38 will spend the allotted amount of time making the approved
changes & updates to your text and images. Suggestions will be provided
for future updates and a reminder for usual updates (such as a calendar).
Note: hours do not rollover each month.
